We are recruiting a Project Manager to handle the development and maintenance of the Couchers Handbook and Help page. The Handbook will serve as a comprehensive guide for Couchers.org and couch surfing as a whole, whereas the Help page will serve as a concise resource that answers frequently asked questions.

The Handbook Project Manager (HPM) will be responsible for developing, editing, publishing, and maintaining the Handbook and Help page on the Couchers website. The HPM will create and oversee a team of content writers with couch surfing experience to assist with these goals. The HPM reports to the Head of Community & Support.

Duties

  • Design a framework for the development of the Handbook;
  • Use analytics and feedback from other teams and the community to curate, expand and improve content;
  • Develop procedures for adding, removing, editing, and publishing content;
  • Recruit, onboard, and train content writers to assist with creating the content.
  • Assign sections of the Handbook to content writers and monitor their progress.
  • Organize team meetings on a regular basis.
  • Proofread and edit content created by content writers prior to publishing.
  • Serve as a chief content writer.

Skills and Experience

An ideal candidate would have the following skills:

  • Extensive couch surfing experience (regardless of the platform) involving hosting, surfing and events;
  • Experience as a writer and/or editor;
  • Experience with Project Management or managing a team of writers;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Excellent organization management, and team-building skills;
  • Familiarity with CMS and other online publishing tools are a plus;
  • Familiarity or experience with graphic design or audio/video editing is a plus;
  • Native (C2) fluency of English both written and spoken; additional languages a plus;

Expectations/Commitment

  • 10 hours per week on average
  • 6 months minimum commitment
